چکیده

Introduction Simultaneous acquisition of fMRI and EEG is thought to be a potential solution for enhancing the temporal resolution of fMRI. To enhance the temporal resolution of fMRI with aids of the EEG data, it is essential to match the fMRI data precisely with the EEG data in the spatial domain. For better spatial matching between fMRI and EEG, we applied EEG source localization to the EP/ERP signal extracted from the EEG data recorded inside a 3.0 Tesla MRI system. We present experimental results of EEG source localization together with corresponding fMRI results.

Spatiotemporal brain imaging of visual-evoked activity using interleaved EEG and fMRI recordings.

Combined analysis of electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has the potential to provide higher spatiotemporal resolution than either method alone. In some situations, in which the activity of interest cannot be reliably reproduced (e.g., epilepsy, learning, sleep states), accurate combined analysis requires simultaneous acquisition of EEG and fMRI. Simult...

Spatial resolution of EEG cortical source imaging revealed by localization of retinotopic organization in human primary visual cortex.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the spatial resolution of electroencephalography (EEG) cortical source imaging by localizing the retinotopic organization in the human primary visual cortex (V1). Retinotopic characteristics in V1 obtained from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study were used as reference to assess the spatial resolution of EEG since fMRI can discrimina...

EEG Source Imaging Guided by Spatiotemporal Specific fMRI: Toward an Understanding of Dynamic Cognitive Processes

Understanding the mechanism of neuroplasticity is the first step in treating neuromuscular system impairments with cognitive rehabilitation approaches. To characterize the dynamics of the neural networks and the underlying neuroplasticity of the central motor system, neuroimaging tools with high spatial and temporal accuracy are desirable. EEG and fMRI stand among the most popular noninvasive n...

Corrigendum: Multisensory integration of dynamic emotional faces and voices: method for simultaneous EEG-fMRI measurements

Combined EEG-fMRI analysis correlates time courses from single electrodes or independent EEG components with the hemodynamic response. Implementing information from only one electrode, however, may miss relevant information from complex electrophysiological networks. Component based analysis, in turn, depends on a priori knowledge of the signal topography. Complex designs such as studies on mul...

An fMRI study of human visual cortex in response to spatiotemporal properties of visual stimuli

ABSTRACT  Background: The brain response to temporal frequencies (TF) has been already reported, but with no study reported for different TF with respect to various spatial frequencies (SF).  Materials and Methods: fMRI was performed by 1.5T GE-system in 14 volunteers during checkerboard, with TFs of 4, 6, 8 and 10Hz in low and high SFs of 0.5 and 8cpd.  Results: Average percentage BOLD signa...
